Synopsis:

This beautiful book is for the very young and the young at heart. It tells the story of Tah-Tye, a shy baby ’possum who is not anxious to leave Mamma ’Possum and explore the great Louisiana swamp. When he does leave, he learns about his home, the swamp, and discovers the unique skills nature has given him to take care of himself – including the ability to “play possum.”
           

About the Author:

Mary Alice Fontenot (1910-2003) authored 25 books, including numerous children’s stories about Louisiana. Among the best-known of these are the Clovis Crawfish series, several of which were illustrated by Scott R. Blazek, who also illustrated this book.

About the Illustrator:

Scott R. Blazek is an accomplished freelance artist living with his family in Clovis, New Mexico, where he served as pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church from 1990 to 2012. In addition to numerous children’s books, including several of the well known Clovis Crawfish books by Mrs. Fontenot, Mr. Blazek has designed more than 500 Mardi Gras doubloons. He also designed the obverse side of the 1993 U.S. $5 gold coin commemorating the Bill of Rights.
